Get Wise About Your Teeth

Teeth come from calcium. Many animals are classified by their teeth. Humans have two sets of teeth during their lifetime, (diphyodontic) baby teeth and adult teeth, but other animals have more than two. Sharks have a new set of teeth about every two weeks and are polyphyodontic. Rodents have incisors that grow constantly. Consistent gnawing regulates the size of them. Some rodents, like guinea pigs, and rabbits, also have molars that grow constantly.

In humans, incisors are the four front teeth. Canines are the pointed teeth on each side, and demonstrate our carnivorous predisposition. There are two premolars on each side behind the canines, and three molars on each side behind the premolars. That makes 16 on top, and 16 on bottom for 32.

This includes wisdom teeth, which can be problematic if they are misaligned, causing nerve, gum and tooth damage. Many people require the removal of their wisdom teeth, resulting in two molars on each side. These teeth usually develop between the ages of 17 and 25. If you think you need your wisdom teeth removed, visit Dr. Yakov Eisenberger, your local Brooklyn orthodontist today. Dr. Yakov Eisenberger can let you know what steps to take if you do require the removal of your dens setentiae (that’s wisdom teeth in Latin).

Brooklyn NY Braces Means Options!

We have come a long way from the orthodontic braces of yesteryear. These days, there are tons of different options of Brooklyn NY braces available to get a healthy, beautiful smile. Here are a few different options available from your NYC braces orthodontist.

Mini Diamond Braces:
The brackets on mini diamond braces are smaller than the traditional bracket design. This makes it more comfortable for the patient, while giving the same effective treatment for the patient.
GAC Mystique:
Clear brackets aren’t necessarily new, but clear brackets that are virtually stain resistant are pretty new! There’s nothing worse than discolored and stained clear braces. They can really wear down the patient’s confidence level, at a very sensitive time. The GAC Mystique offers the cosmetic benefits of clear brackets, a smooth and comfortable, and has the exact same effectiveness as traditional metal appliances.
In-Ovation R:
If treatment time is an issue for you, the In-Ovation R could be the appliance you’re looking for. It is faster for your orthodontist to use and can significantly reduce treatment time. In addition it offers better hygiene than traditional metal appliances.
In-Ovation C:
Much like the In-Ovation R, the innovation C shortens treatment time and keeps aesthetics in mind by using unique translucent Rhodium covered brackets. In addition, it is a unique self-litigating system giving the patient the freedom of an SL system, with the same benefits of ceramic braces.

Brooklyn NY Braces Terms Defined

There are many different terms your NYC braces orthodontist uses when you’re sitting in the chair getting your exam. If you’re like most people you just smile and nod your head, and then leave wondering what the heck he was talking about. If you’ve been wondering what some of the common terms your Brooklyn NY braces provider uses, but haven’t asked, here is a mini-glossary to set the terms straight.

Crowding- A dental misalignment caused by not enough room for the teeth.

Gingiva-The tissue that surrounds the teeth, consisting of a fibrous tissue is contiguous with the periodontal ligament and mucosal covering.

Lingual- Meaning of or pertaining to the tongue.

Maxillary- Meaning of or pertaining to the upper jaw. It may also be used to describe teeth, dental restorations, orthodontic appliances, or facial structures.

Archwire- A wire engaged in orthodontic attachments, affixed to the crowns of two or more teeth and capable of causing or guiding movement.

Straight-wire appliance- A variation of the edgewise appliance in which brackets are angulated to minimize multiple archwire bends. Brackets and molar tubes have specific orientation in three planes of space.

Orthognathic surgery- Surgery to alter relationships of the teeth and/or supporting bones usually accomplished in conjunction with orthodontic therapy.

The History of Braces

Even Ancient peoples wanted straight teeth. Braces have been discovered on Egyptian mummies with metal bands wrapped around their teeth and catgut wires used to close gaps! In the early 18th century, the French were working towards modern orthodontics. Pierre Fauchard invented a “bandeau” which widened the arch. Numerous other dentists expanded on his work, but no real advances came to braces until the 20th century.

In America, the first braces were used from all types of materials but gold was especially common. Because gold is soft and malleable it was the perfect metal to wrap around individual teeth to move them. In 1929 the American Board of Orthodontics was born, and nine years later came the first synthetic toothbrush. Stainless steel was not used in mouths until the early 60’s, nor were x-rays used in orthodontics until that time.

In the 70’s new technologies were employed to hide braces. Amongst them were lingual braces that were placed on the inside of the teeth. During the 80’s tooth colored braces came into play. But today Brooklyn Invisialign makes all of these practices look dated. Brooklyn Invisalign was developed by a couple of Stanford MBA’s who had braces in high school and wanted to make the process easier. Today Brooklyn Invisalign technology is just ten years old and using computer imaging will continue to advance making Brooklyn NY braces smaller, less visible and more comfortable.

Brooklyn Invisalign Makes A Perfect Smile In No Time

My smile was okay, but I always had little bits of food stuck in my teeth. It was really embarrassing and so eventually I went found an NYC braces orthodontist. I really didn’t want Medicaid braces, but I did want straight teeth. So when I talked to my Medicaid orthodontist, he recommended Brooklyn Invisalign. He took some pictures of my teeth and when I came back a few weeks later to get my first cast, I was already on my way.

I was still able to eat what I wanted because I took out the aligners whenever I ate and drank. Brushing and flossing was a cinch and the whole while no one even knew that I was straightening my teeth. I went to my NYC braces orthodontist about every two months to pick up my new casts for my teeth and switched them every two weeks. I was actually able to watch my teeth shift from aligner to aligner. Finally about a year later, I was done with the treatment and I had the smile I always wanted.

I’m so happy that I got Brooklyn Invisalign because now my smile is perfect, and I never had to experience the traditional discomfort of braces.

Why Headgear?

Headgear was once more commonplace than it is today. It was, and still is sometimes used for severe bite problems. It is traditionally used in conjunction with braces and attaches to them with metal hooks to pull the jaw forward. While your NYC braces orthodontist will most likely spare you the stigma attached to these appliances with a different form of Medicaid braces, it’s good to know about what once was a more prevalent option in the orthodontic world. Most headgear alternatives take the form of temporary anchorage devices to help shift teeth.

As a whole, adults are ineligible for headgear treatment and so it is important that children be diagnosed as soon as possible. If they are not, corrective surgery may have to occur. The ideal age for a screening is 7. By then the first adult molars have emerged and begin to impact the adult bite. Today Brooklyn NY braces can help malocclusions (bad bites) the same way that headgear once used to.

So for any bite, whether it’s an overbite, underbite, crossbite or openbite, it’s best to see your Medicaid orthodontist if you have any concerns. If you’re looking for Brooklyn NY braces, you can rest assured that you will be happier than if you were wearing headgear.

Correcting Overbites With NYC Braces Orthodontist

While ideal overbite is 10%, more extreme overbites can be deleterious to dental health and the aesthetics of your smile. Sometimes teeth can wear unevenly, which can provide issues down the line. Other times, the covering of the bottom teeth by the top can be unattractive and the bottom teeth can hurt the palate from rubbing against it. While most overbites are passed on genetically, others can be caused during infancy from thumb sucking or excessive bottle or pacifier usage. Luckily the solutions for this problem are relatively easy.

With Brooklyn NY braces or a NYC braces orthodontist, overbites are easily remedied through teeth straightening and braces. Once these procedures are in effect, they fix the jaw to prevent more serious symptoms like TemporoMandibular Joint Syndrome, which often causes neck and jaw pain, migraines, and sleeping issues. To prevent the overbite from recurring, check in with your NYC braces orthodontist regularly to ensure that your jaw doesn’t return to its original placement.

While it’s better to take care of issues like these during adolescence, they can be fixed at any time in order to prevent problems later in life. So if you’re worried about an overbite, underbite, or any dental problem at all, visit your NYC braces orthodontist today!

So You’re Braces are Off? Time for Retention!

If you finally got your brooklyn ny braces off, you probably can’t stop smiling.

You love the way your new smile looks and want to keep it that way, so proper retention methods are of utmost importance.

The retainer can be one of the most important aspects of your orthodontic treatment. You don’t want all that hard work and money to go down the drain after you’re braces are off, so wearing your retainer for the amount of time prescribed by your nyc braces orthodontist is crucial to preserving your beautiful smile.

In most cases, after the braces are taken off a retainer must be worn 24/7 or the teeth will shift. Many orthodontists don’t tell their patients they must wear the retainer at all times after the first few months of brace-freedom.

Your teeth still aren’t used to their new position and in the first few months after your braces are removed, they still want to shift back to their natural position. Retainers are crafted to hold them in their new place.

After the first few months of wearing your retainer all day, most people can usually start wearing it only at night, for quite a while. Many adults still wear that their nyc braces orthodontist gave them in their teenage years. And why not! It won’t hurt and it will only help your teeth stay put.

Going for the Gold: 24-Karat Brooklyn NY Braces

Some people need a little help getting excited for their braces. It's true that Brooklyn NY braces are the first step in obtaining straighter, healthier teeth, but for some folks this goal is simply too far away. They need something to get psyched about now. If this sounds like you, don't worry — you can get excited for orthodontic treatment today with gold braces.

Gold? That's right. Stainless steel braces are currently available with a coating of 24-karat gold, which patients find appealing for a number of reasons. First, gold braces allow people with stainless steel allergies to finally get the oral treatment they deserve. Additionally, many patients think than gold looks less jarring over teeth than the color of regular stainless steel. And of course, some people just like gold.

Remember, gold and stainless steel are but a few of the options your NYC braces orthodontist has to offer. You might also consider mini diamond braces, which are smaller and more comfortable than traditional braces. Another option is Brooklyn Invisalign — the metal-free way to straighten your teeth.

NYC Braces Orthodontist News: i-CAT Cone Beam 3-D Imaging System

Most of us are familiar with CT scans. They’ve been used in the medical field for over 30 years. But one of the latest advances in diagnostic technology, the revolutionary i-CAT system, has also become a leader in diagnostic tools and is now regularly used at Hanson Place Orthodontics.

If you’re unfamiliar with i-CAT technology, the i-CAT differs from traditional CT scans in that it produces quality 3-D images in as little time as one minute. This more detailed three-dimensional view offers Orthodontists a better view of the hard and soft facial tissues and structures and can lead to a faster and more accurate diagnosis.

Another important feature of the i-CAT Cone Beam is that is uses 90% less radiation than a tradition X-Ray, while providing your nyc braces orthodontist with clear, crisp accurate images.

i-CAT technology is most commonly used in TMJ assessment, Surgical Planning, evaluation of cleft lip and palates, impacted tooth position, facial analysis and placement of dental implants.

If you’re interested in being evaluated with the latest and most modern dental Imaging system, then contact the ultimate NYC braces orthodontist, Hanson Place Orthodontics and set up an appointment today.

NYC Braces Orthodontist Tips: Health Benefits of Properly Aligned Teeth

If you’re thinking about visiting your NYC braces orthodontist, but unsure about spending the money on something cosmetic, you should realize the many health benefits of having properly aligned teeth. They don’t just look good, they actually contribute to better health!

Signs of gum disease or periodontal disease include swelling or redness along the gum line and can often be attributed to the teeth being too crowded or too far apart. Studies done by dental professionals have shown that proper tooth alignment through methods like Brooklyn Invisalign or Brooklyn ny braces, actually help the gums fit tighter around the tooth, improving the gums overall Periodontal health.

When you leave improperly positioned jaws and teeth untreated, they can sometimes lead to chewing discomfort and speech problems. Improperly aligned teeth and jaws can cause stress to supporting bone and jaw joints. This stress can lead to abnormal wear on your teeth which can contribute to further discomfort and more costly and painful visits to the dentist, further down the line.

So in short, Orthodontics is more than just getting that pretty smile you’ve always wanted (although that’s important too), it’s about your mouth’s long-term health.

A lot of people hate the Dentist. And really? It’s no wonder! It's not even the Dentist per se, it’s what they do to you. However, sometimes you simply NEED to go to the Dentist or the Orthodontist. It's for your own good and in my vast experience an Ortho always seems gentler when it comes to your teeth than a Dentist. Not sure why really, but that's the way it seems to me! The Brooklyn NY braces doctors and the NYC braces Orthodontists can ensure YOU a better smile and a healthier mouth.

Fixing your teeth isn't only about the visual aspect and feeling good about yourself, but it's also about your health. What Is Brooklyn Invisalign?

As a person who has been fortunate enough to maintain a straight white set of teeth with regular dentist visits and no need of an orthodontist, I must confess that Brooklyn Invisalign is an amazing accomplishment to me. I can recall days of classmates and family members having to wear the popular metal braces in an effort to keep their tooth alignment straight. One cousin used to come to the South every summer bearing her Brooklyn NY braces and a smile bigger than the state she traveled from. Invisalign is a revolutionary way to straighten the teeth without anyone having to view metal in your mouth.

This system, which is a clear plastic frame that fits over your rows of teeth, helps to correct other dental problems, as well. A NY braces orthodontist can use Invisalign to curb overbites, underbites, crossbites, overcrowding or wide spacing. The Invisalign system is made up of detachable aligners, which are replaced every two weeks. The changing of the system is vital to corrections since the teeth are shifting constantly into place. Because of the replacement requirement, teeth straightened with Invisalgn usually straighten faster than with traditional wire systems.

If I were to select this system for straighten my teeth, I would take comfort in knowing that it gives access to better dental hygiene, too. Because the system is not made to last long, I can be sure to get to food particles that would ordinarily be trapped in the twists of wire with regular braces. After an orthodontist installs the Invisalign system, the time it takes to complete the treatment is 12 months.

Why Is A NYC Braces Orthodontist So Important To My Health?

A beautiful set of teeth is God’s gift and it plays an important role in one’s personality. However, most of us have overlapping teeth, rotated teeth or simply we do not have enough space in our mouth to accommodate all the 32 teeth. Whatever may be the reason, if you want to have a perfect smile, you should visit an orthodontist. Orthodontist is a specialized dental professional, who treats people with misaligned teeth. Proper alignment of the teeth not only improves the smile, but they also play a major role in oral hygiene and oral function such as chewing and talking.

If you are a resident of New York, there are many NYC braces orthodontists available to treat any kind of problem related to mal-alignment. Simple, single tooth mal- alignment can be treated with a removable retainer. However, when many teeth are involved, orthodontists recommend braces. Braces are of different types such as metal braces that are attached to the individual tooth, mini braces or invisible braces. Many patients prefer invisible braces, as they do not provide the metallic look while opening the mouth.

Depending on the severity of mal-alignment, braces have to stay in a patient’s mouth for duration of 6 months 2 years. If you are looking for Brooklyn NY braces, then you can go to orthodontists such as Brooklyn invisalign to get your desired braces. The disadvantages of wearing braces are that the wearer has to bear some extent of pain each time the orthodontist activates the appliance as well as one should take care of his oral hygiene each time he/she eats something.

Or else, the whole appliance will retain food particles, which can subsequently cause plaque formation and eventually decay of the teeth. Orthodontists usually recommend brushing the teeth after each meal with fluoridated toothpaste and usage of mouth wash twice daily. A properly done orthodontic treatment provides a wonderful smile and confidence to the wearer.

Brooklyn Invisalign Can Bring A Calmness To Your Fears!

Many people including this writer tremble a bit when they are considering the possibility of seeing the orthodontist. People of a certain age group such as this writer connect treatment received from the orthodontist with heavy bulky metal braces that announce to the world that you have crooked teeth or some other malfunction of the mouth requiring these drastic measures to be taken. Also along with the garish sight staring back from the mirror goes the knowledge that to put all this into place one is going to have to absorb an awful lot of pain and anguish.

What a pleasant surprise to do some research, advance ones' knowledge and be able to move into the 21st century dispelling all these untruths. Today I have gained the introduction to and recognition of Brooklyn invisalign and the entirely unique way of overcoming the long held fears associated with past thoughts concerning braces and orthodontics. The new world is here. Brooklyn Invisalign is a revolutionary new approach to handling things.

This system which allows you to wear a clear, unnoticeable aligner which can be removed when eating, drinking, brushing or flossing and will perform its task of straightening the teeth without anyone but you knowing it is happening is such a step forward in the world of science. These aligners are each worn approximately two weeks at a time and as the teeth gradually respond, they are changed accordingly. Visits to the off ice are spaced apart every 8-10 weeks or so and the entire process is normally completed within 12-15 months. It is just the best way to go.

When Is It Time To Take Your Kids To See A NYC Braces Orthodontist?

Children’s oral hygiene is one of the most important health issues and you better try and help them keep their teeth as clean as possible. They’ll thank you later! Now I know that most of the time it’s easier to slay a dragon than get them to brush their teeth and floss, but the sooner you teach them the good habits of keeping their teeth healthy, the sooner they will get into the habit of doing so on their own. And when it comes to your children's teeth, you may start wondering when it's time to actually take them to see an NYC braces Orthodontist.

A lot of doctors are usually going to tell you that about the time they start getting their second set of teeth is the time you should take them in and get them a check up to make sure everything is aligning correctly and there are no problems with the teeth overall. In some case your children will need Brooklyn Invisalign or Brooklyn NY braces, to get things straight, so it's a good idea to visit the orthodontist as they grow.

After you take your child to an Orthodontist, he or she may find inaccuracies with your child's teeth, how they have grown, are they straight, does your child have an improper or irregular bite, etc. Once they figure all of these factors out, it’s about the time you guys start talking about the options available to your child. You need to make sure that whatever option you choose your child should be fully involved and able to live with the decision, after all they will be the one wearing them, so you want to make sure they feel and look how they choose!

Brooklyn NY Braces V.s Brooklyn Invisalign

So it's finally time for you to figure out what to do with your teeth. For a while now, you may have been barely smiling, making sure you don't show anyone your teeth, you feel embarrassed and ashamed and you finally had enough. Well, good for you. Our teeth really are an important part of our bodies, not only cosmetically, but health wise as well. Two of the options you may have been considering are Brooklyn Invisalign and Brooklyn NYC braces. Which one is better? Which one is going to make you more comfortable? Which one should you choose?!?

Let's put this is simple terms so everyone understands it. While metal braces were used for quite a few years, it's actually the Invisaligns that are the NEW and innovative option. With metal braces these were quite painful to get placed on your teeth they were also very painful to wear. Whereas with Invisalign the process is actually quite evasive. These "braces" also tend to not make you feel as uncomfortable or in as much pain as the metal braces would. Also, since these are made to support the option of taking them off when eating, drinking or brushing your teeth - you will be allowed to keep on eating the foods you love.

But with metal braces, well, you can’t take these off, right… This also means you can't eat the same foods you normally would. On the other hand, there is the price. It's always a good to come in our clinic and ask for reading content or a personal advice and see which one works better for you. This way you’ll probably know more about each process and option and which one is going to be the best bet for you!

Checking Out Brooklyn Invisalign Could Help You Get The Smile You Really Deserve!

Its human nature to want to look and feel good. Especially nowadays with the way society is, the second we have something wrong with our bodies we automatically feel like we are less of a person. When it comes to your teeth or your smile it's the same way and even more important because it’s a question of health as well. If you have crooked teeth, an over or underbite or crowding of teeth, then Brooklyn Invisalign could just be what the doctor ordered. The orthodontist can easily fix your teeth with either braces (the old school way) or Invisalign.

The really nice thing about Invisalign is that these are - invisible! Unlike metal braces you can't even tell you are wearing them. These are fantastic news for adults. I know a lot of adults would really rather not walk around with metal braces, and instead would like to have an invisible solution available to them and with now you can have just that! These types of braces are also readily available to anyone, it doesn't matter your age or the type of problem you are having with your teeth.

In fact, this is definitely the more popular and innovative way to go. As of April 2008, more than 730,000 patients have completed treatment or are currently in treatment with Invisalign braces! Even better, when you wear Invisaligns, you will be able to take them out easily - which means you can ultimately eat or drink whatever you want. With metal braces this is just not an option!
